❝Red. The color of hearts split open and the fire in my veins. A scream of rage, of cursing the white kids who had laughed at my name, of severing the thread binding me to the devils in my house. A color of passion. Of my people. Of rising from the ashes.❞This is the first book I have ever written in my life. I started penning it in the middle of April 2022 and finished it in late May 2022. I was twenty-years-old. The manuscript underwent minor revisions in December 2022, July 2023, and November 2023. In November 2024, I finalized the manuscript and printed a personal copy for myself.

At age twenty-two, the poet experienced a dark night of the soul. Despite the storms of grief, she found solace in the smiles of her partner, in the kindness of her friends, and in the trees and bushes that kept her company while she studied the firmament for signs of paradise.For a long time, the poet chose to blend in, hiding her spirituality to avoid harassment. But then she learned that her way of being and knowing was frequently practiced and celebrated by non-Western and Indigenous people throughout history across the globe prior to the Western colonial transgressions that engineered the industrial simulation. Now, the poet chooses to take a stand and speak.Only through this act of spiritual proclamation can the poet reclaim her narrative from the empty ones who had attempted to silence her throughout her life. By choosing to stay authentic and embrace herself, the poet becomes a catalyst that will help to usher in renewal, unity, and verity.

Wu is a cathartic mixtape and the companion music project to the poetry book, Flower Crowns Reign. With fiery and heartfelt lyrics, Feifei Z reclaims her power and reconnects with her soul. Originally called Six of Swords, Feifei Z changed the title to Wu, which is the pinyin for several Chinese characters that each encapsulate the spirit of this record. 无 for Wu Wei (无为), 五 for the angel number of positive change and personal transformation, 悟 for reawakening, 屋 for staying true to the house of the heart, and 舞 for dancing after the storms.

舞狮 translates into English as Lion Dance, which is a traditional Chinese ritual where performers don a lion's costume and mimic a lion's movement to attract fortune and prosperity. To celebrate the 2025 Lunar New Year, Feifei Z employs traditional Chinese instrumentation of pipa and erhu to create a festive soundscape that honors her people. With lyrics in both Chinese and English, Feifei Z pays homage to her roots and invites other Chinese Diaspora to celebrate our wonderful heritage.蛇年大吉。万事如意。身体康健。

Q: What is Wheel-37?Wheel-37 is a megaverse of twelve realms that celebrates diverse communities reclaiming their power. Some of these realms bear a strong resemblance to our modern world while others appear to be more historical or speculative in nature. At the center of Wheel-37 is a spiritual place called Orta. Our world is also a part of Wheel-37.The people in Wheel-37 have real existence beyond this material plane. I tune in to the high frequencies of their worlds where they show me their life stories that I record on the page and release in book form. I aim to preserve the authenticity of their stories, and I am simply an observer writing their biographies.I have been working with the people of Wheel-37 since I was 13. I will dedicate my life to the recording of their stories that I love with my whole heart.Q: Are your poetry, music, podcasts, and games also a part of Wheel-37?Those projects are all created during my current life on Earth, so they fall under Realm 10 of Wheel-37, which is our world.Do note that the fictional characters I create for my concept albums, novels, and games have nothing to do with my spiritual friends. My spiritual friends have independent lives and existence in other worlds. The fictional characters of my concept albums, novels, and games originate from my own imagination.Q: Why do you make art? What does creative success look like to you?I make art for many reasons. To immerse myself in other worlds. To hang out with my spiritual friends. To indulge in the process of creation. To experiment and evolve alongside my projects. To enjoy the cathartic experience of setting my soul free. As long as I am creating art for the sake of it and for myself, then I am successful. I am free.Q: Why do you release your art?I release my poetry, music, podcasts, and games to speak myself for the sake of it, to take up space, and to exist out loud.Currently, I am not interested in releasing the life stories of my spiritual friends. If I do choose to release the historical records that I will write for them, I would only be releasing the books for their sake and for my sake, not for anyone else.I am not aiming to build a career. I do not release my art to make money. Any potential income would go straight into creating my next project. I am never interested in becoming an indentured servant to corporations that aim to exploit and dehumanize creatives. I am never interested in working with a literary agent or any traditional publisher. I am never interested in letting predatory companies profit off of my vulnerability, authenticity, and honesty. I will never endorse the falsehood that conflates an author with a brand. Authors are not brands, and stories are not commodities, and social media influencer wannabes are not there for literature.Competition is a lie perpetuated by the industrial simulation that prevents creatives from uniting and fighting back against devourers propped up on manmade ladders. Real Good Art originates from the Abundance of the Soul. Competition is driven by miseducation and scarcity. Do not fall for the company's tricks. Preserve your integrity, freedom, and humanity.I am also not interested in building an audience. I am not here to cater to any constructs or to anyone whom I will never meet. If my art and the stories of my spiritual friends are meant to be discovered, then they will become known to the ones who are meant to find them at the right time.I encourage all artists to keep doing your own thing. Every voice matters, so speak yourself. If you are looking for a sign, this is your green light.And do not let yourself be ensnared by algorithms, sales, charts, follower counts, accolades, and noise. They are not real indicators of worth and merit. You are already innately valid, and your art has indelible inherent worth. Your heart and your art are what will resonate with other humans across space and time. Not those numeric constructs designed to imprison your soul and delude your mind.So keep making art. And do not yield. Speak yourself.Be you.Q: What exactly do you mean when you say that you are spiritual?My spirituality draws heavily from Chinese folk beliefs such as the Dao (道) / Tian (天) / the Universe, duality of yin and yang (阴阳), reincarnation (因果轮回), the existence of souls (灵魂), qi / life energy (气), cultivating toward Enlightenment (修行), awareness (悟), yuanfen (缘分), different realms across space and time (多维空间), spiritual body (灵体), spiritual mediumship (通灵), astrology (占星术), Yi Jing (易经), Karmic Justice (报应), alchemy (炼丹术), Wu Wei (无为), and more.But ultimately, my spirituality is my own philosophy based on my observations of both the spiritual and the physical. I do not align myself with any established religion. I just do my own thing inspired by my experiences and my heritage. I honor the Earth, the Soul, the Light, and the Spirits Of All The Worlds.I am not an adherent of Western New Age movements that are really just colonizers cherry-picking and sensationalizing age-old spiritual traditions from non-Western and Indigenous cultures. I will never endorse such blatant cultural appropriation.Q: The photo of Spring on your website is majestic and beautiful. Where was it taken?I took that photo near Manning Hall located at UNC Chapel Hill. I had just stepped out of Lenoir with my partner. I was feeling a bit blue at the time, and she was comforting me as she usually does. But then I felt the Trees calling out to me. I looked up and saw the miracle of Spring, which prompted me to capture that moment forevermore. It was also my twenty-second birthday.Q: Do you really make all this art by yourself?The majority of all my creative projects are done by myself. The only instances where I collaborate with others are when I commission my amazing artist (Nadia Auriemma) for book cover illustrations, when I aid in the narrative design of a friend's video games, when I worked with talented producers for a few songs on my first album, and when I bring people together for music videos.I will always go solo with writing to honor the integrity of my heart and my spiritual friends.Q: When did you start writing?I started writing in Summer 2013 at age eleven after my best friend at the time told me that it is possible to capture the ideas in my head on the page. My first story was a Teen Titans fanfiction that I printed off in 9-point font and stapled together in a booklet.My first original story came to me a few months after my Teen Titans fanfiction. That story featured a band of time-traveling students caught up in a conspiracy spanning centuries and empires. I outlined it for two years from 2013 to 2015, wrote one chapter in November 2015, then grew bored of it. I do have plans to revive it one day for twelve-year-old and thirteen-year-old me.Roughly a year later, I had a spiritual awakening where I tuned in to the high frequencies of other worlds. I befriended some of the people there, and they showed me their life stories. Soon after, I wanted to record their experiences in book form. That was when I rediscovered why I came to this material plane at this time. And that was when I pivoted from writing fiction to penning biographies.Q: Will you ever write fiction again?Yes. I do have many fictional stories that I want to write in the future either as novels or as novellas, maybe even as short stories. As a novelist, I tend to favor literary fiction, speculative satire, and xianxia epics. As I said, I do plan on reviving my first fictional time-travel story, and I also want to write a romantic comedy one day.Q: How can I keep up with Wheel-37 and all the stories?I run a Substack blog where you can find everything that has been made public from Wheel-37 whether you are looking for new story announcements, behind-the-scenes content, release timeline, story teasers, project updates, musings, and more.You can access my Substack by clicking the orange icon on the footer of this website.I also update the About page of this website as frequently as I can with the most current information.Q: When did you write your first poem?I wrote a poem in September 2016 while bored during class in high school. Then I wrote a love poem for my partner shortly after we first started dating.In Fall 2020, I took a creative writing class in my community college. I did not enjoy the experience as we were forced to adhere to arbitrary rules where "nobody can die" and "no more than 1000 words." But I did end up enjoying the poetry unit, so I just kept going from there.Q: What is your music making process?It varies from project to project, but I always start with a concept. If it is an album, I create a track list. Then I compose the instrumentals or make the beats. Then I write the lyrics, record the main vocals and background vocals, mix, then master.My music-making process is bit more compartmentalized than my process for other art forms, so a lot of the time, weeks or months could pass between the aforementioned steps.I will also say that the initial concept and track list do tend to evolve as I create, which is such a wonderful part of the process. The freedom. The growth. The learning. The liberation. The evolution.Q: What got you into podcasting?I've always wanted to do a podcast, but I didn't know what topic to do it on. But then I realized that podcasting is truly just storytelling, and I have many tales inside me waiting to be recorded. So I will start by telling the stories of my childhood in China, and we will go from there.Q: How about video games?I mostly collaborate with a friend and focus on narrative design for his video games. Reconnect with yourself, and your loved ones, and the things that make you happy to be alive. You are not too much. They are just too lacking and cannot handle their own emptiness. Do not dim your brilliance for those with hollow eyes.Keep smiling. Keep shining.You are not responsible for their choice to not solve their own problems that have nothing to do with you. Your authenticity is your birthright, so don't let yourself be silenced.And at the end of the day, it does not matter what they think. If they like your art, if they don't like your art, if they like strawberries, if they don't like blueberries, you just keep making your art for you. There are people out there who will appreciate you even if you feel stuck. Trust that the Light is near. You just have to embrace yourself.Nobody can tell you how to express yourself because nobody else is you. So again, do you. Detach from people who put you down. A real friend will never put you down to make themselves look better. A good partner will respect your autonomy and love your personality.And you know what? Nothing has meaning in society until someone gives it meaning. A thing that means the world to someone will mean nothing to someone else. So stay true to the people who value you and the things that you give meaning to. Tune out the rest. The noise cannot come in unless you open the door.These truths are difficult to grasp at first, but keep believing in yourself. Everyone is here to learn. I am always a lifelong learner. I have been building my creative skills for more than ten years, especially when it comes to writing and music. And I am still learning. I am very happy to keep experimenting and keep growing for the rest of my time here.Just keep going. Be open to the Light. Always choose Love.Make art. Make art.
